Case Study — Plantar Fasciitis in the Right Foot
A 52-year-old female patient presents with intense and debilitating pain in her right foot, with significant difficulty walking and evident limping upon examination.
The patient had previously visited her primary care center, where she was prescribed anti-inflammatory treatment and referred to another specialized service, with prolonged waiting times. Due to persistent pain and functional limitation, she sought consultation with the goal of returning to work, as she was currently on sick leave.
Following clinical assessment, a diagnosis of plantar fasciitis in the right foot was established. A complete biomechanical study and ultrasound evaluation of the soft tissues were performed, revealing thickening in the longitudinal axis of the right plantar fascia, a finding consistent with an inflammatory process.
Treatment was initiated with regenerative medicine, combined with the prescription of custom orthotics and specific home exercise guidelines. In her case, ultrasound-guided infiltrations with local anesthesia were performed, scheduled monthly according to clinical evolution.
The patient attends follow-up appointments regularly and correctly follows the prescribed treatment.
After the first month of treatment, she reported an approximate 70% improvement, with significant recovery of gait and a substantial reduction in pain. At 8 weeks, the patient was completely asymptomatic.
She continues to be monitored for control and adjustment of the orthotics, remaining free of painful symptoms at present.
